We offer you a fascinating excursion to Nikko National Nature Park - one of the most remarkable places in Japan, famous for its beauty and historical monuments. This is a fabulous world of mountain lakes and waterfalls. Monkeys jump on the trees here, deer go out on the road, and trout swims in the clear water. It is wonderful here at all times of the year.

During the excursion you will see:

Nikko Park - covers the ridge of the Nikko Mountains, in which peaks such as Nikko Shirane (2578m) and the extinct old Nantai-san volcano are located. The park also has plateaus, waterfalls, lakes and deep forests. The eruption of Nantaisan formed the largest lake - Tyuzen-ji, fed by the Yukawa River, on which Ryuzu Falls is located. Just a five-minute walk from Chudzen-ji, you will have a magnificent view of one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Japan - Kegon. Its height is 97 meters. For an acuity of impressions, you can use the 530 yen lift, which allows you to observe the overflowing water flows. The most full-flowing period is from April to November. In the dry season, the falling stream may dry out, although there is a whole system for pumping water through an underground pipe. Kegon also presents an equally impressive sight in severe winter, when its jets freeze with icy influxes and cascades. The park has the highest marshland in Japan - Ozega-hara, where in summer Kamchatka lysikhiton (Aroid family), cotton grass, azalea and other marsh plants bloom. The park has numerous hot springs.

Nikko’s story began 1200 years ago, when the Buddhist monk Shоdo Shönin crossed the turbulent mountain river Daya on the backs of two giant snakes. A steep slope leads from the sacred bridge to the Rinnoji Temple. This temple owns the largest wooden structure in Nikko. In front of the temple is a censer with incense. The Japanese light and put sticks here, which, burning, form puffs of fragrant smoke. People gather around the censer, they fan themselves with their arms, trying to attract as much smoke as possible. It is believed that it helps to cure diseases, averts adversity. Rinnoji Temple is best known for the Sanbutsudo Hall (Hall of the Three Buddhas), which, as mentioned above, is the largest in Nikko. The gilded three-meter statues in this hall correspond to three mountain deities. What is on the left, with the head of a horse, is the protector of animals, Bato Kannon, in the middle is the deity of forgiveness, Buddha Amida, and the last personifies the goddess of justice - the thousand-armed Kannon. Near the temple there are two bronze lamps, tourists like to be photographed near them, because they are very beautiful.

In the XVII – XIX centuries. burial place of the shoguns of the Tokugawa dynasty. In the XVII century. the Toshogu Shrine was built with the mausoleum of the first Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The Tokugawa Dynasty ruled Japan for 250 years. The first shogun of the Tokugawa dynasty - Ieyasu - chose this place for his burial in the north-east of Tokyo, because, according to legend, evil spirits threatened the city from this direction. 20 years after the death of Ieyasu, his grandson Iemitsu convened 15 thousand skilled craftsmen and more than a hundred famous artists to erect majestic monuments among the Nikko mountains in just two years.
